Halloween

For some reason, in our neighborhood, there weren't any porch lights on (you know, that exciting, nationwide signal of "we've got candy!" that kids look forward to)....just one. God bless that one woman who gave out candy. So anyway, I wasn't going to let those cool costumes go to waste or let these kids miss out on the fun. I remembered hearing on the radio about a church doing a "trunk or treat" in a store parking lot a few miles from here....well, actually, quite a few miles. Everybody piled into the van and away we went. It was so much fun. They were very excited. My camera battery died so I have no photos of the fun. The cars were lined up and decorated to the nines. Some of the "distributors" were in costume, too. There was music and lots of candy and homemade bouncy balls and slime making and a photo booth set up.......

Josiah, who had the courage to dress up as "W" (our illustrious leader), walked Aidan around. This was Aidan's first time trick or treating. Needless to say, it took quite some time. He wanted to stop and socialize with everyone (I don't know WHERE he gets THAT from. hee hee). lol Josiah finally gave up trying to get Aidan to hold his treat bucket because that baby wanted to fling it around and throw it. It looked like someone was busting a pinata....candy everywhere! The kids got to make slime, which was pretty cool. There was one mother who had a backdrop set up and was taking portraits of the kids for free. She's going to email them. I was very glad about that because I didn't have any of all of them together and none of Josiah.

When we got home, we settled in for a nice, peaceful family movie.....Sleepy Hollow. lol Josiah turned all the lights off in the house. At one point of scariness, the cookie sheet in my cabinet shifted or something and made a loud noise. I thought Liam was going to jump out of the chair he was sharing with me. It was perfect timing. We curled up together with blankets and "monitored" the eyes and ears. There are humorous bits in the movie, which helped take the edge off of it for the kids....okay, and for the Momma. I'm not a big scary movie fan. :-)

So that was our Halloween. And now, thank God, it's over. We just have to deal with the effects of sugar overload for a couple of more days and then go through withdrawal and we should all be fine. lol
