Josiah

There's a lot going on with Josiah.

Baseball season is in full swing now. What a difference a REAL ball club makes! Josiah is so much more enthusiastic this year because he's playing with people who take it seriously and know what they are doing (coaching wise). He was excited about it last year, too, but that quickly turned to"why bother" because most of the people didn't take it serious enough.

He got baptized last week. It was an exciting moment for me as a Mom. It was something he wanted to do on his own. We teach our children about God and it is an awesome thing to see them step out and make the relationship their own. His youth pastor baptized him at a gym here on Post. Also, his buddy got baptized the same day. They were friends from jr. high, then played baseball together last year. Dylan had invited Josiah to go to the youth group with him last year and Josiah has been involved ever since. It's a great group through Chapel Next where we go to church on Post. I have seen Josiah grow and get involved in "real world" issues plus have lots of fun.

Last week, he participated in a 30-hr famine for World Vision to raise money for starving children. I was very proud of his determination to bring in as much money for the cause as he could. The famine started during the school day then through baseball practice and a camp out on a nearby ranch and ended Saturday night with a family dinner. He had gotten 2 of his best friends (who just started going to Access with him) to participate. From what I've been told, they both gave their heart to the Lord at the camp out. Next week, he is volunteering for a big Christian concert at the Coliseum with Mercy Me, Skillet, etc. plus Mandisa from American Idol. The Access group will have special back stage passes. Exciting stuff. I feel better about him going to that rather than the Kanye West/Lupe Fiasco concert he wants to go to in May. I like the music but am nervous about the environment. But to him, it's a dream come true to have 2 of his favorite artists in the same concert.

On Friday, I will put him on a plane with 2 of his buddies bound for Brooklyn, New York. At the other end will be his buddy and his parents for a fun-filled 16th birthday weekend for Mark. Mark's parents bought plane tickets for the 3 of them to come up there and spend the weekend with Mark for his birthday. They are all very excited, those "4 amigos", as they call themselves.

Plus, he has a new girlfriend who is cute as a button. I don't have any pictures of her yet.

Oy, my baby is growing up!
