Carving "Jack-a-lopes" :-)

Yes, that's what Liam wanted to do. Wanted to know when we were going to "carve up some jack-a-lopes". Of course, he asked me this when we weren't near the pumpkins so I had to really stop and think a minute what the heck he was talking about. Once again, I had to wonder what he was watching on Nickelodeon. lol (like the time he asked me to "watch [his] jump split" (like Spartacus on Lazy Town) and no matter how many times I asked him, it kept sounding to me like "what's a dumb prick?" I almost stepped into that one with dispensing too much info for my 5 yr old. But thankfully, he decided to just show me. I had a good laugh on myself and said, "oh, you want me to watch your jump split!" lol)

Daddy supervised the pumpkin carving. First, he told them to take a black marker and draw on there what they wanted it to look like. Then he cut the top off for them and showed them how to scoop out the guts (of the jackalope. lol). Finally, he carved out where they drew, turned the lights off and shined a flash light inside to show them what it would look like. Liam was asking for a lighter so we could "turn it on and stand it up inside there". They had a lot of fun with this. Josiah didn't get to join in because he was still at basketball practice (til 8 that day). I lined up our little orange Mulligan family out front along the walk. Just hope no one decides to smash them tonight. We're actually going to turn our porch light off tonight so there won't be any trick or treaters because sadly, tomorrow is pay day and there's no money today to buy candy. It works out well, though. Usually one of us stays behind, dispensing gobs and gobs of candy (because we get a boatload of trick or treaters) and the other takes the kids around. This way, we both can do it. At least, that's what I'm hoping. :-)
