Happy Momma's Day to Me! :-)

Youth fades; love droops, the leaves of friendship fall; A mother’s secret hope outlives them all.
- Oliver Wendell Holmes

I'm at lunch at work right now on Mother's Day. Some mother's called in. I can understand that. I can't afford it, but I can understand it. lol But I actually feel like a good mother BECAUSE I am working, making money to support my family, doing an honest day's living of hard work (not hard, as in difficult but hard as in labor intensive). I feel accomplished. lol The kids went to church with the Sterneberg's and afterwards, they'll go home with Josiah and he'll watch them. I'm going to Starbuck's with my laptop after work and have some 'mommy time'. Then the kids want to do some things with me. They were disappointed that they couldn't do breakfast in bed for me like they usually do. But it's best. This past year has been one of NEW traditions. Maybe we'll return to some of the old ones but for now, there are too many memories of the "absentee parent" attached to them. There's a young couple here at the Canopy with their infant. Made me smile. But then I heard tension between them (a soldier that is staying in lodging here and a wife and baby that are visiting). She seems bitter and just walked out while he was playing pool. He followed. Sometimes, I want to say, "Find a way to work it out! It's not worth it. Trust me on this. It won't be like this forever and before you know it.... these days are gone... you'll want them back but you won't be able to get them back. Hold on tight to each other and ride it out. Your children will thank you if you find a way to let love win."

I loved it when Clint and I would "parent" together (especially when we were out... we were a good team... *sigh*) and enjoy the kids together. Those are probably some of my fondest memories. Oh well. Memories are all they are right now.

I want to write more but it's time to go back upstairs and work. :-) Come on, Starbucks..... :-) Actually, the Coffee Scene is my new favorite place. I forgot. Hm, change of plans. :-)
