Color Me Crazy!

I met with the new doctor today. Liked her very much. She's a Marshall University grad, so what's not to like (and she's a redhead, like me. lol) I almost wore my Marshall hoodie to the appt, too. lol I was laughing when I told Josiah how to reach me (he was watching the baby) because I had to let him know which building I was in. Apparently, they are color coding crazy people these days. The choices were the red, green or blue buildings. I got the green building. Sure enough, when I got there, there were huge signs saying: GREEN BUILDING, etc.

She asked me a lot of questions and concluded that she isn't convinced that I have ADHD, even though I have many of the symptoms. She said that the overriding factors of depression, anxiety and excessive stress for such a prolonged period of time could just be overloading my coping mechanisms to where what worked before, won't work now because I don't have time to decompress and recharge before I have to deal with something else (even normal everyday stuff). And since I've had to be on full alert status for so long (since I'm the only adult "on duty"), my body is just compensating. I told her that I feel like the "little gate" in my brain (that regulates things and keeps the ebb and flow functioning properly) is broken. She laughed and said that's exactly how it is. She wants me to stay on the Zoloft because it is working on the things it needs to work on but that the chemicals that control the "gate's" function aren't touched by Zoloft so she gave me Wellbutrin for that. We talked about the medicine at length and I told her all my concerns about new medicines, in general......side effects, what kind of temperament history I have, etc. She also gave me Ativan for an "as needed" basis to help me get some sleep. Apparently, I'm going to have to go easy on that particular happy pill. Knocked me on my keister last night! lol
