2 More Blessings :-)

No, I'm not pregnant with twins! lol Okay, actually, that's not even funny.......

Oh my goodness, 2 big (well big to me and mine) weights off of me that I forgot to post on here: I got approved for $535/month worth of food stamps. Yeah, I know, have some pride, woman, and don't broadcast that you are on food stamps. But you have to know me. I qualified for food stamps YEARS AGO (even when 'the man' and me were together). My friends would tell me to go and apply but I wouldn't. You know, something about the word "welfare" when it's tied to government money makes me uneasy. Not too keen on the government taking care of us unless it's Uncle Sam because of the Army. We've EARNED that one. I kept thinking that I didn't want to take away from someone else who needed it more, when I am an able-bodied woman.

But my kids need to be fed. And fed well. When the dentist tells you that she wants to talk to you about improving your family's diet.....well, that's an eye opener. When you find yourself going without eating so that you can save it for your kids and you give them anything, just so their stomachs won't growl....well, something needs to change.

And now, something has. My EBT card should be here this week. I can't even find the words to describe how it feels to have this tremendous weight roll off of me. Especially since I just discovered yesterday that I forgot to document about a hundred dollars worth of debits in my bank acct and now I am penniless. No worries, though, God is ALWAYS faithful. Well, I say that all cheerily NOW, but my CLOSE friends know to expect late-night phone calls or instant messages from me, crying, "I can't do this anymore! I'm not Wonder Woman!". lol But I know that God makes a way for me to get what we need. He even makes strangers (who turn into friends :-) ) show up at my door with food. No, seriously, this has happened to me...and one time, it happened the day I got turned down for govt assistance because 'the man' had moved back into the house this past summer, when he graduated from school. He got to witness God's miraculous provision and couldn't believe it. See, things like that don't happen for him...just me and the kids. Of course, he was a recipient of that type of provision when he was WITH me and the kids...... Should tell him something, huh?

And the 2nd thing I forgot to post (and thank you, Mrs. Maj. Harvey for telling me about this. Mwuah!)....our family got accepted into the "Heroes at Home Wish Registry" at Sears. I'm not completely sure how it all works or what amount I will have to work with for the kids for Christmas. But the gist of it is that we get a card with our name on it (and I hope it's not "the man's" name only cuz I'm screwed if they won't let me use it. I'm not telling him about it and have him screw up Christmas for the kids.) and then anonymous people make donations into one large fund (that is for everyone in the HAHW registry) and on Nov 30 and Dec 26, they divide it up evenly amongst all the cards. The cards can be used in the Sears store or on their online store. The original advertisement for it said that last year averaged around $550 per family. That works for me. lol That's $550 MORE than I already HAD to work with for them for Christmas. lol But there was this disclaimer at the bottom of the letter:

Please note that participation in the registry is no guarantee that you will receive any
gifts. However, we are pleased that you have chosen to be a part of this program.

We look forward to giving the American public a chance to help make you and your
family's wishes come true.

I'm not sure what to make of that but no worries. It's in God's hands.

Good job on the food stamps!!Look at it this way; the whole time the "man' was working, he was putting money in the system. Now you're getting a refund:)

I'm so glad. I like knowing that someone DESERVING is benefiting from the program. And you know, sometimes we have to learn to be on the receiving end of things :)
