Flylady Flunkie No More

Okay, I started the Flylady program again. I'm determined to enjoy, not only the holidays, but LIFE in general. People have been stopping by lately and more will be popping in as the holidays commence. I want my guests to be comfortable and I don't want my kids to be embarrassed to have their friends see our house. lol

I started the program about 4 years ago but didn't really get into it full swing and promptly abandoned it. But this week marks one year since we got this new house and it looks like we've lived here about 5 years. I remember how excited I was to walk in here for the first time.....how clean it was, how it smelled, how spacious it was.... Granted, it has been a very rough year for our family. Now I'm feeling a renewed sense of purpose and want my home to reflect that. So, I'm FLYing again. :-)

I signed up today but hadn't had a chance to read all of the emails. But I did do a lot of cleaning and decluttering. Of course, I shined my sink first. lol (I've read her book a half dozen times, just didn't put it into practice often). The funny thing is that today I tackled the mound of clean laundry in my room.....got it all folded and put away and even bagged up clothes to give away. Plus, I did a little decorating in there because I really want it to be a pleasant place....not a drab catch-all for everything. Then I see this email a few minutes ago:
Subject: FLYLADY: Zone 4: Mission #2 Tuesday
Dear Friends:

Today is the day to attack the clothes pile. Now you all know what I
am talking about. This pile is either on a chair, on top of the
hamper, dresser or at the foot of your bed. Set your timer for 15
minutes and grab some hangers or start folding. While you are doing
this do not hang up or fold something that you hate! This is the
time to let it go!! If you do not love it, send it right out the
door!

Kelly

I laughed. :-) Looks like I was right on the mark today and didn't even know it. lol I took it as a sign that this time, I'm going to get my life/home in order and not live in C.H.A.O.S. anymore (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome). I'm looking forward to this new venture.

I'm so proud of you. This way, when *I* drop in, you'll be ready for me, right?

I'm coming. Don't know when, but I'm coming!!!

Good reminder. I think I'll have to start the fly lady thing too. Funny we must have been thinking shine the sink at the same time the other day. LOL!

Good for you Jeanette! I totally need to do this again myself... my laundry pile is taking over my entire couch! It really is so much easier to deal with life in general when your house is not a disaster!
