My Baby Turned 16 Today!

Happy Birthday Son (written by Thena Smith)

A mother always remembers
Every phase of a son's growing up
From the time you played in the yard
Much like a happy little pup.
The todder years went zooming past
And soon you were a teen
With each day filled with promise
And now you are sixteen!
I pray for you a future
Full of joy and happiness
For if you find in life contentment
Then you will have found success!

While Josiah was asleep, I snuck 16 mylar balloons into his room. That was about as tricky as it was to drive home with them in the van (plus with the 3 other kids..."DO NOT get out of the car unless I open the door!!" lol). Anyway, I sneak in under the cover of darkness. Those things were tapping against the ceiling and he wakes up, slightly.....looks at the window, then falls back to sleep. Shoo . THEN his alarm clock goes off. I about peed myself. I'm standing there at the foot of the bed, trying not to even breathe. He hits the snooze and proceeds to do so himself. I try spreading the balloons around and then hightail it out of Dodge.

He said he kept hearing "rain" (it was a balloon trapped by the air vent running up and down the window blinds) and was bummed because it was raining on his birthday. Then he thought he had ants or something crawling on his face (the strings) and kept swatting at it. He didn't catch on until he heard the noise from my camera focusing (from the doorway). That was so much fun for me. :-)
