We Shall Overcome

I'm listening to the new Bruce Springsteen CD, "We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Years". Ah, it feels like coming home! Saturday morning, the smell of pancakes and coffee in the air, no tv, kids playing quietly, folksy bluegrass music......I miss this simplicity.

I focus too much lately on making sure the kids have the bare minimum: food, shelter & clothing. I've given their total nuturing a backseat to the computer and digi-scrapping. I didn't think I was, but I've made scrapbooking my priority and the family secondary. I kid myself by saying that the scrapbooking is FOR them but I think they'd rather have more of me and less of beautiful "memory-filled" scrapbook pages if they were given a choice.

So it's up to me to step back and re-evaluate my priorities. It's reality check time. The scrapbooking community will always be there but my kids.....well, I only have a short time to influence and impact their little lives in a positive, enriching way.
